Wobble Boards for Kids

!±8± Wobble Boards for Kids

The main aim of using a balance board is to improve proprioception, this is our sense and awareness of the position of our body parts. Having good proprioception helps to reduce the risk of injury. Balance boards can also be used by both adults and children to help improve core strength, balance and flexibility.

Performing balance board exercises has been proven to help children with coordination and behavioural problems. Improvements have been seen in rhythm, auditory and visual processing, and motor coordination in children struggling with sensory challenges and similar medical complications. In trying to maintain your balance whilst using a balance board the body's sensory system is trained by forcing the brain and body to focus on remaining stable in a difficult situation, meaning both halves of the brain have to work together.

There are several different types of balance boards available. The most common are round boards that sit atop an adjustable dome in the centre. They mainly vary in size and material, although rocker boards (square in shape) and wobble cushions are also available and work in a very similar way.

Adjustable wobble boards are ideal for children as they can be altered to give various tilt angles, enabling children to start with a gentle tilt and then increase the difficulty as they progress.

Exercises can be carried out whilst standing, sitting or kneeling on the board. Training can begin with simple rocking from side to side, backwards and forwards, and rotating in circular movements. Parents can get involved by making a game out of trying to see who can stay upright the longest without the edges of the board touching the ground. Difficulty can be added by trying to get the child to pass a bean bag from hand to hand or throwing the bean bag at a target whilst balancing on the board. There really are endless ways in which these products can be used to improve a child's balance, flexibility and core strength. Incorporating the exercises into a game is the best way of keeping the child's attention and encouraging regular use.

To maintain absolute safety ensure the board has a non slip surface and the child is bare foot or wearing trainers when using the board. The board is best placed on a carpet or rug as hard surfaces are liable to slip. A strong adult should stay close by to spot the child as the exercises are performed in case they lose their balance.

37 Activities to Do With Your Family on Your Front Porch

!±8± 37 Activities to Do With Your Family on Your Front Porch

We often take for granted a part of our home that we pass by day in and day out. What part is that? It is your front porch. If you have a medium to large front porch, think of it as an extension of your home where you can spend time with your family. You might wonder what you could possibly do on your porch.

I found it easy to come up with a bunch of simple family activities that you could do on your porch with your son, daughter, spouse, mother, father, grandparent, neighbor or friend. Now, don't laugh when you read this list. Some activities will be more appealing to you than others. Some might even bring back memories of when you were a kid.

Here are the first 37 things that came to my mind, but I did not stop there. I have many more coming in my next few articles. Some of these activities will work best if you have a small table on your porch. Keep in mind that the weather and your porch lighting play a factor in some of these activities.

So let's get to it.

Play a game of checkers, chess, cards or any board game like scrabble or monopoly. All are fun front porch classics. Read stories out loud to each other. Listen to some mysteries on old-time radio when it's dark outside. Write birthday cards for the month ahead. Work on a puzzle book together. Read the newspaper with your honey. Listen to an audio book together, maybe a chapter at a time. Plant an herb garden to put on the ledge of your railing. Make potholders from loops. Remember that as a kid? Rock a baby on your porch rocker (you need a baby for this one!). Learn a foreign language together. Blow bubbles with a child. You can even make the bubble solution yourself. Draw with sidewalk chalk. Install a ceiling fan on your porch (great project for a knowledgeable parent to teach an older child). Play jacks, tiddlywinks or marbles (these can be fun, really!). Magic tricks Play a keyboard or guitar and sing some songs. Listen to hockey, basketball, baseball or football on your radio. Do a homework assignment together. Setup your telescope and identify stars, planets and UFO's. Surf the internet, update your blog, answer questions in a forum. Talk on the phone to your grandma or grandpa. Spill your heart to each other on the porch swing. Fold clothes. Folding clothes doesn't have to be boring! Get a cool paint-by-number and get going on it. Brainstorm ideas to fix up your porch to make it even nicer. Hang up a porch swing with a friend. Identify birds and keep a bird watching journal. Put a jigsaw puzzle together. Do this on something that easily transports to the house. Sort through and organize your recipes. Clip coupons, articles or pictures from newspapers and magazines. Make a stepping stone from a store-bought kit.. Some include colored, sparkly gems and letter stencils to personalize your stepping stone. Build a wind chime and hang it on your porch. Paint small decorative bird houses to decorate your porch. Have a book club meeting on your porch - complete with some snacks like lemonade, refrigerator cookies and popcorn. Get out your sketch pad and sketch a picture of your front porch to hang in your home. Decorate your front door with a wreath, basket or some beautiful bright fresh paint.

Your porch is a perfect little piece of heaven that you just might be overlooking. It's a great place to spend time outdoors with someone you love or just by yourself. Even in this fancy, high tech world where we are constantly entertained by television, videos and game boxes, sometimes getting back to the basics is rather refreshing. Dream up your own reasons for spending time on your own front porch with your family. It just might improve the rest of your life, too.

Look for future articles from me with more fun activities to do on your front porch.

Game Chair Or Sound Rocker

!±8± Game Chair Or Sound Rocker

The S1500W is manufactured by a company called Pyramat. This company manufactures and supplies a wide selection of products including this one. At first glance this chair looks like the seat out of your car but it is much more than just a car seat.

To prove that it is more than a car seat let's check out some of the features and benefits of this game chair. The first great feature would be the design of the game chair.

The chair is designed to sit directly on the floor so it can rock back and forth with your movements while playing the game. This chair comes with a Safety Lock Backrest so if you slam yourself back in it you topple backwards. The seat is made from a Breathable Microfiber so you can play in total comfort with out getting all sweaty

The next key feature would be the Wireless Audio Reception. This means no more tripping and falling over wires and just to note that is what the"W"in the model number stands for. To follow this feature up is High-quality Surround Sound Speakers. These are known as full range speakers, that means high, mid, and low sounds can be heard. To get that rumble sound and powerful bass sound that everyone loves the game chair comes with a Pyramat POWER SUB WOOFER. What have we got so far? We have a chair that rocks and has sound capability.Wait there is more much more.

This must mean that now we have a sound rocker that has the ability to Connect up to 8 Units Together so you can take it over to your friends house and connect up together and have a video game party. If you are wondering about weather or not the sound rocker will work with your game console, don't worry this sound rocker is Compatible with All Gaming Consoles and Audio and Video Devices.

Just when you thought it could not get any better, well it does. The S1500W comes with a collapsible side storage compartment for all your games and different types of controllers. When you first open up the box you will find the following items required to connect your sound rocker. Such things as, 9 ft 3.5 mm Audio Cable, 3.5 mm Mini to RCA Adapter, 9 ft 12 V DC Power Supply, Wireless Transmitter, it even comes with a Manuel to show you how to connect and use the game chair correctly. The only thing this game chair does not come with is 2 AA batteries for the wireless transmitter.

This concludes our look at the Pyramat S1500W. Have you decided is this video game chair or is it a sound rocker or is it a hybrid of both of these?
